Competitions we enter throughout the year.
During our winter programme we take part in several competitions. Some are for the club as a whole and others are for club members as individuals.
This is a club competition run by the Cornwall Photographic Alliance for it’s thirteen member clubs. Entry consists of fifteen digital images and fifteen prints.

This is a club members competition run by the Cornwall Photographic Alliance for members of it’s affiliated clubs. Entry consists of four digital images per member.
It is an ‘Open’ competition with the exclusion of Nature and Wildlife photography because these genres have their own competition. Full details and definitions can be found on the CPA’s website, see link at the bottom of this page.
There is an entry fee of 50p per image to help with the running cost of the competition.
Introduced in 2016-17. This competition had two categories, Nature and Wildlife. You can enter up to six images and load the categories as you wish. Like the Charles Hosken, a small fee applies.
The DPIC is a club competition run by the Western Counties Photographic Federation and has approximately fifty clubs from the South West taking part each year. A digitally projected image only with each club submitting 18 images.

For members of the WCPF’s affiliated clubs. Members can enter digital and printed images of their choice for judging and displaying if accepted (entry is large therefore not all images get selected).
This is a club versus club competition organised by the clubs. Each club has 15 digital and 15 printed images (or 10 and 10 if it’s a three way ICB) which are critiqued and scored by an independent judge. Scores are totalled and the winning club goes home with the street cred!
Clubs agree the rules for each battle and appoint the judges.
Penwith league is our main internal competition. It is in league format that involves 16 images per member all scoring point. Members can enter up to 16 digital or up to 12 digital and 4 printed depending on the format for the year. Four independent judges, score and critique the eight rounds of the league which is held over four evenings.
Print rounds when held are colour and mono, while the digital rounds are half themed and half ‘Open’.
This is our end of the year competition, ‘Image of the Year’. Each member can submit up to 3 digital and 3 printed images. Scored and critiqued by an independent judge. This is an ‘Open’ competition with NO subcategories.
The is a pre-Xmas fun competition with a bottle of wine as a prize. Members are given four themes at the beginning of December and have ten day to take and create their images. Judging and presentation is held at our last meeting before Xmas. Each theme winner gets a bottle of wine. Maximum of six images per member, loading the themes as you wish.
Another fun challenge where the only prize is picking the next monthly theme. No limit to images entered, images receiving the most like from other members is the winner.
