Our Competitions

During our winter programme we take part in several competitions. Some are for the club  as a whole and others are for club members as individuals.

CPA Annual Competition (external, club)

This is a club competition run by the Cornwall Photographic Alliance and is open to it’s thirteen members. Entry consists of 15 digital images and 15 prints.

This is an ‘Open’ competition with some subcategories. Full details and definitions can be found on the CPA’s website, see link at the bottom of this page.

 

CPA Charles Hosken (external, individuals)

Also run by the CPA but this competition is for individuals who are members of CPA affiliated clubs. You can enter up to four digital images for a small fee.

CPA Nature & Wildlife Competition (external, individuals)

This is a new competition that will be introduced in 2016-17. There are two categories, Nature and Wildlife as in ‘Wild and Free’. You can enter up to six images and load the categories as you wish, a small fee applies.

 

DPIC (external ,club)

The DPIC is a club competition run by the Western Counties Photographic Federation and has 45 to 50 clubs from the South West taking part each year. It is digital only with each club submitting 18 images. Link at the bottom of the page for more information.

Image of the Year (internal, individuals)

This is PPG’s end of the year competition ‘Image of the Year’. Each member can submit up to 3 digital and 3 printed images. Scored and critiqued by an independent judge.

This is an ‘Open’ competition with NO subcategories. Details are as ‘Penwith League’ below.

 

Interclub Battles (external, club)

This is a club versus club competition organised by the clubs. Each club has 15 digital and 15 printed images which are critiqued and scored by an independent judge. Scores are totalled and the winning club go home with the street cred!

Penwith League (internal, individual)

The big one!

Penwith league is our main internal competition. It is in league format that involves 16 images per member all scoring point. Members can enter up to 16 digital or up to 12 digital and 4 printed depending on the format for the year. Four independent judges, score and critique the eight rounds of the league which is held over four evenings.

Print rounds are colour and mono, while the digital rounds are half themed and half ‘Open’.
